Locum Services for small animal practices

I am available for short term small animal veterinary surgeon cover in general practice for surgeries in and around Stafford. I might be the answer to short-term staffing problems due to ill health, vets away for a day of CPD in the larger veterinary practice, or for the single practitioner who may just want a morning or an evening off for family commitments etc.

I received my veterinary degree in Berlin, Germany in 1987 but have lived and worked in this country since 1989. I worked full-time for the first few years , then started a family in 1993 and have since fitted part-time work and locum covers around a busy family life which included many animals: gold fish, mice, guinea-pigs, dogs and ponies. A health crisis in 2008 directed me towards the benefits of acupuncture and I took the foundation course in veterinary acupuncture offered by the ABVA(Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists) and attended courses on electro-acupuncture and equine acupuncture, too.

I have good communication skills and use an empathic approach towards pet patients and their owners. These skills have improved in the last few years because of my training in NLP(neuro-linguistic programming), clinical hypnotherapy and life coaching. Another therapy I use is EFT(Emotional Freedom Techniques) which I employ with pet owners who find it difficult to cope with their animals illness, death or euthanasia and help them with their grief over the loss in the form of bereavement sessions.

I charge £35/hour plus mileage costs or £270 -£280/day.
